As your Motherbody Mentor, my intention is to support you to care for your body using movement, stretches, and self massage techniques derived from Pilates, Shaitsu and my experience as a postpartum doula. My priority is your movement wellbeing. I’ll endeavour to nurture your capacity to move better in your everyday motherlife.
My specific skills and areas of interest are in your physical preparation and recovery regarding birth - bodywork, movement practices, and particularly in preventing, managing and rehabilitating core injuries.
Preparing for birth does not guarantee a particular birth outcome, but it can stack the cards in your favour.
Healing from birth can take time. My intention is to support you to respect the healing process which can be really hard to do in a culture where ’bouncing back’ is seen as the norm.
As a pilates teacher, shiatsu therapist and postpartum doula I don’t diagnose injuries or conditions, but I can teach you healthy movement practices, and offer you resources and referrals for you to make your own informed choices.
Each appointment might include a check in with how your body is going, some release work, some centring work, some functional work and suggestions for exercises and movements you can do through your day to help your body feel better. And specifically, we'll cover things to help you with your birth prep or post birth recovery.
